Experience + Philosophy

I believe in a holistic approach to home and garden design, and fill a void in the industry by offering a suite of services that simplify, organize, and beautify the interior and exterior character of the home and property.

I feel that a home’s character, vintage, and personality should be reflected in the layout of it’s furnishings and accessories. Appropriately scaled furniture, minimal but charming accessories, unique placement of color and accent… all go a long way to create that charming home you dream about.

In the garden, I strive for simple beauty achieved through plant texture and symmetry, without an “overdose” of garish color or plant heterogeneity. Properly scaled plants in the correct location, repeating patterns, charming patio pavers for outdoor seating, along with a scaled garden plan, are the key attributes to a successful garden design.

The experience I bring to the field includes a master’s degree in urban and neighborhood planning. I am trained in satellite and digital imagery analysis, and bring a background in urban forestry, sustainable development, and energy efficiency to the field. I am skilled in preparing scaled garden and “hardscape” plans for the exterior home complete with special features, plant specifications, and land characteristics.

I have provided timely, cost-effective and quality home staging and “curb appeal” improvements for many real estate listings in Portland, meeting all criteria for a successful home listing and sale. I have also had the pleasure of consulting to homeowners for exterior and interior color decisions, garden and property designs, and interior design and décor recommendations.
